I saw the $5 for the first time yesterday at work. All of the servers were looking at it like it was alien money because no one had seen it yet, but it's actually pretty...colorful, with a giant pink 5 in the corner. Finally, America's money is almost as pretty as other countries' money! Now that the 5, 10, and 20 are new, I wonder if the 1 is going to change? I heard that they changed the 5 and 10 because they were counterfeit more than any of the other bills.
it is interesting that the people of the US get touch ups and now do their money
yes, it is pretty and not that bland green, but that green look was the image of the american currency. now our money is slowly turning into monopoly play money
many countries like australia and burma incorperate a plastic chemical in the paper that way, if one trys to destory it by ripping or cutting it is quite hard. when i was in australia i was told that they money was made out of that material for two reason counterfieting would be less and that it could stay in circulation long because it's life is longer than regular paper.
i feel like our currency is undergoing a change for no reason really. I don't seem to understand it. Maybe it's because the value of our money is falling everyday before our very eyes. The euro is worth so much more than the dollar now and I feel like the US mint is just putting in some color to spice things up a bit!
I think this is a great idea but other countries are not wealthy enough to afford the luxury of making counterfeit proof money, the fact that we had the old circulation for so long led to so many people thinking of an easy way out of making money, this should pose a slight problem for them, until the criminals figure it out again.
